As a multifunctional venue, the VELTINS-Arena is not only a real all-rounder in the field of sporting events, but also in the field of entertainment. The offer ranges from comedy to opera - the stadium is unparalleled in NRW. On June 22, 2019, the stars of the German comedy scene will come together to celebrate the biggest show of its kind in Gelsenkirchen.
The VELTINS-Arena has also been transformed into an oversized opera stage on several occasions, captivating numerous culture-loving spectators. In 2001, over 48,000 spectators saw the performance of AIDA in the largest opera house in NRW, and more than 31,000 attended the premiere of Carmen in Gelsenkirchen. The multifunctional stadium shone in opera-worthy splendor.
A completely different kind of entertainment was provided by an event with a particularly loud engine noise - the TV total Stock Car Crash Challenge was a guest in Gelsenkirchen on several occasions and regularly thrilled around 50,000 spectators.
