VELTINS Arena Events

Since its opening in 2001, the VELTINS-Arena, known as Arena AufSchalke until 2005, has established itself for events and functions throughout Europe. Today the largest open-air stage, tomorrow the home ground of FC Schalke 04, the day after tomorrow a ski slope, concert hall, wedding location, venue for the next corporate event or football temple - the VELTINS-Arena is a true quick-change artist.

So far, international and national music acts such as Taylor Swift, U2, Ed Sheeran, Robbie Williams, Bon Jovi, AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen, Metallica, Depeche Mode, Helene Fischer, Herbert Grönemeyer and PUR have celebrated in Gelsenkirchen, as have fans at sporting events such as the biathlon at Schalke, the world record attendance at the 2010 Ice Hockey World Championships, the Klitschko boxing events, the 2004 Champions League final and UEFA EURO 2024.

2024 was a real record year for the stadium: the VELTINS-Arena recorded 2,677,477 spectators at 871 events throughout the year. An average of 61,300 fans attended S04's home matches - which meant third place across the league in the 2023/2024 season. 1,432,844 visitors attended a total of 28 sporting events, a total of 13 concerts and show events were attended by 690,000 spectators, and the Schalke stadium also hosted 721 corporate events (37,519 visitors) - including two fairs with 7,214 participants - and 107 other events with 509,900 guests.
