Georgia celebrates in Gelsenkirchen: Outsiders advance to round of 16 after 2:0 win against Portugal

Georgia won their third group match of UEFA EURO 2024 2-0 against Portugal at the Arena AufSchalke on Wednesday (26.6.) to secure their ticket to the round of 16. The goals for the team of national coach Willy Sagnol were scored by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (2nd) and Georges Mikautadze from the penalty spot (57th).

Georgia will therefore face Spain next Sunday (30.6.) at 9 p.m. in Cologne. Portugal, who had already secured victory in Group F before the clash, will face Slovenia on Monday (1.7.) at 9 p.m. in Frankfurt.

Following the results on Wednesday evening, it is now also clear which round of 16 pairing will be played in the Arena AufSchalke: England will take on Slovakia on Sunday (June 30) at 6 p.m. in Schalke's living room. This match will be the fourth and last of UEFA EURO 2024 in Gelsenkirchen.
