Tournament exit averted: England win in extra time against Slovakia

England won the UEFA EURO 2024 round of 16 match against Slovakia 2:1 in the Arena AufSchalke on Sunday (30.6.). Ivan Schranz gave the team of national coach Francesco Calzona the lead in the 25th minute. Jude Bellingham acrobatically equalized in the fifth minute of stoppage time and Harry Kane turned the game around with a header shortly after the start of extra time (91').

The Three Lions have thus advanced to the round of the best eight teams at this European Championship, with England facing Switzerland in the quarter-finals. The clash with the Swiss will kick off on Saturday (6.7.) at 6 pm in Düsseldorf.

The match between England and Slovakia was the fourth and last to be played at UEFA EURO 2024 in Gelsenkirchen.
