Team Finland will be represented by Suvi Minkkinen and Tero Seppälä at the Biathlon World Team Challenge on Sunday, December 28, 2025, in the VELTINS Arena.
Suvi Minkkinen has been an integral part of the Finnish national team for several years. At the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, she gained valuable experience with 22nd place in the sprint and 24th place in the pursuit. The athlete made a strong statement at the 2023 World Championships in Oberhof, where she finished 15th in the sprint. Minkkinen celebrated her greatest success to date in January 2025: together with Tero Seppälä, she won the single mixed relay in Oberhof and thus her first World Cup victory. Her career record now includes a total of two podium finishes. The 30-year-old finished the 2024/2025 season in 18th place in the overall World Cup and impressed with consistent performances in the top 20.
Her partner Tero Seppälä has been the figurehead of the Finnish men's team for years. Like Minkkinen, he also celebrated a historic victory in the single mixed relay in Oberhof in 2025 - a special moment for Finnish biathlon. His best individual finish in the World Cup to date dates back to 2022, when he came fifth in the sprint in Ruhpolding. He has a total of two podium finishes in the statistics, most recently finishing the 2024/2025 season in 32nd place overall in the World Cup.
Also taking part: Jakov Fak and Anamarija Lampič for Slovenia. Fak is one of the most experienced athletes and has already celebrated numerous successes in his career: bronze in the sprint at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver and silver in the singles in Pyeongchang in 2018, as well as two world championship titles in 2012 in the singles and 2015 in the mass start. In the World Cup, the 37-year-old has stood at the top of the podium eight times and achieved a total of 19 podium places. In March 2025, the Slovenian provided an emotional highlight when he celebrated another individual victory at his home World Cup in Pokljuka after almost ten years.
His teammate Anamarija Lampič is considered one of the most interesting newcomers in biathlon. The 30-year-old was previously successful in cross-country skiing before switching to biathlon in 2022. Despite the late switch, she has a number of successes to her name: in 2024, she achieved her first World Cup podium with a third place in the sprint in Le Grand-Bornand. In the 2025 season, she caused a stir at her home race in Pokjluka when she again finished third in the mass start with 19 out of 20 hits.
