EURO School Cup 2024: 600 kids follow the draw with ERWIN and Albärt

Just like the European Football Championship, the EURO School Cup 2024 is also casting its shadow ahead. On June 10 and 11, almost 600 girls and boys will take part in the official city championship for elementary school in Gelsenkirchen, which will be held at the FC Schalke 04 grounds. The groups for the tournament were drawn on Wednesday (8.5.) in the VELTINS-Arena. ERWIN and the European Championship mascot Albärt acted as the lucky fairies.

In addition to a tour of the stadium, the children also met ERWIN and Albärt in person at the event and were given the opportunity to take souvenir photos with the two mascots. "It is very important to get young people interested in sport," emphasizes Matthias Tillmann. The S04 CEO is delighted with the Royal Blues' role as host of this wonderful event, which will also take place at Schalke in the coming years.

Anne Heselhaus, Head of Education and Sport for the City of Gelsenkirchen, praises the club's clear commitment to the city's children and young people. "You can't rate that highly enough. When you generate enthusiasm, you win children over to even more sport. Many thanks to Schalke for being so aware of this responsibility."
In a month's time, the action gets underway on the pitches. On June 10, 25 girls' teams will compete for the Gelsenkirchen elementary school title, followed by 27 boys' teams one day later.
