Safety in the VELTINS-Arena guaranteed: Events dealt with, measures completed

After three people were injured by a falling aluminum element of the video cube cladding at Bruce Springsteen's concert, the VELTINS-Arena and FC Schalke 04 have carried out all investigations and successfully completed the necessary measures. The work has now ensured that such an incident cannot happen again.

In a joint debriefing on Thursday (3.7.), those responsible for the VELTINS-Arena and S04, together with the authorities and several independent experts, finally reviewed the events. The result is as follows: All measures to ensure safety at all events have been taken. The operating license for the VELTINS-Arena has been granted without any conditions, meaning that set-up for the Iron Maiden concert on July 11 can begin as planned.

At Bruce Springsteen's show on June 27, three visitors were injured by a falling aluminum element of the video cube cladding. As, according to an independent assessment by an expert, identical parts have no safety-relevant function for the operation of the cube, it was decided in consultation with the manufacturer to remove the other elements as well.

For the VELTINS-Arena and FC Schalke 04, the safety of all guests at any major event has top priority. The VELTINS-Arena and S04 apologize to the affected concertgoers and wish them a quick and full recovery.
